Naxos is delighted to have received a 2024 GRAMMY Awards nomination in the Best Orchestral Performance category for the album of Alexander Scriabin’s The Poem of Ecstasy and the Symphony No. 2, performed by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by music director JoAnn Falletta.
The album is on Fanfare’s Want List: ‘Alexander Scriabin’s Second Symphony can be something of a vertiginous heave on heavy seas, but with JoAnn Falletta at the helm, it becomes a swift exciting ride in a motor boat, skipping the waves with effortless delicacy.’
With a discography of over 125 titles, JoAnn Falletta is a leading recording artist for Naxos. Individually she has won two GRAMMY Awards: the 2021 Award for Best Choral Performance as conductor of the world premiere recording of Richard Danielpour’s The Passion of Yeshua (8.559885–86); and the 2019 Award for Best Classical Compendium as conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in Kenneth Fuchs’ Spiritualist (8.559824). Additionally, her recording of John Corigliano’s Mr. Tambourine Man: Seven Poems of Bob Dylan (8.559331) with the Buffalo Philharmonic received two GRAMMYs in 2008, for Best Classical Contemporary Composition & Best Classical Vocal Performance.
The 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards winners will be announced on 4 February 2024. For the full list of nominees, visit www.grammy.com.
