All at Naxos were saddened to learn of the passing of Keith Anderson following a distinguished life of music performance, broadcasting and scholarship. The latter quality was gifted to Naxos Records by way of the exemplary booklet notes he authored for countless albums over many years; he was one of the company’s longest-serving employees. Both scholarly yet engaging for non-specialists and younger students alike, these notes contributed to the success of the albums in step with the quality of the performances. The UK, Turkey and Hong Kong were the chief centres of Keith’s career, the latter being the location of Naxos’ headquarters where his association with Klaus Heymann, the label’s founder, produced such a fine legacy that will endure.
Keith passed away in 2023, aged 95. A few months previously, in October 2022, he had been awarded an honorary fellowship by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts for his services to music. Keith had a particular association with the academy, having joined the teaching staff at its inception in 1984 and with many of his former students having gone on to forge careers in music. All who were associated with Keith will remember him with the utmost gratitude and admiration.
