SWR Jazzhaus is a German record label, founded in 2011 from the SWR Media Services and Arthaus Musik. On SWR Jazzhaus the South-Western Broadcasting (SWR) releases live concerts or studio recordings from their archives in Stuttgart, Baden-Baden and Mainz. The SWR started already in 1957 to send jazz broadcasts in radio and TV. Containing up to date more than 3,000 hours with jazz radio recordings (and 500 hours of TV material) with more than 400 different ensembles and soloists, the SWR archives represents one of the biggest unpublished collections of live jazz worldwide.
SWR Jazzhaus gradually publishes a part of this musical archive treasure. The original tapes are re-mastered in high-end quality and released on CD, DVD and vinyl. All SWR Jazzhaus releases are also available on the common digital music platforms.
Up to date, the SWR Jazzhaus catalogue contains more than 40 releases featuring the big stars of the German and international jazz scene – Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Zoot Sims, Chet Baker, Oscar Pettiford, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Tony Scott, Jutta Hipp, Albert Mangelsdorff, Hans Koller and many more.
