Naxos FILM MUSIC CLASSICS is a series devoted to re-recordings of the finest original orchestral film scores, often painstakingly reconstructed by film music experts such as John Morgan. Featured are classical composers who occasionally worked in cinema, such as Dmitry Shostakovich, Benjamin Frankel, Jacques Ibert and Arthur Honegger. The series also includes émigré composers steeped in the European classical tradition, whose eloquent romanticism defined the sound of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Scores by Bernard Herrmann, Eric Wolfgang Korngold, Max Steiner, Miklós Rózsa and Dimitri Tiomkin are presented in complete versions with top performances and superior sound. A number of releases are accompanied by comprehensive illustrated booklets containing insightful notes and rare photos.
